DFW Elite Estate Sales

Below are a list of questions about estate sales. Roll over the question to see the answer.

What are estate sales?

Long ago, estate sales referred to a sale or an auction to liquidate the property (the estate) of someone who had died. A more modern interpretation of the term refers to any sale that liquidates a large amount of household goods. Often, people conduct estate sales before a relocation, when downsizing to a smaller home or when a senior moves in with relatives or to an assisted living facility. When couples divorce, an estate sale is sometimes an easy way to liquidate assets. Occasionally, a family might have a sale before redecorating or remodeling the home. And estate sales are still held after a loved one passes away.

Who should have an estate sale?

Anyone who has a large amount of household goods of value can have an estate sale. It could be because of the reasons listed above or just to reduce clutter.

How do I know whether I should have an estate sale? I'm not sure.

Call us to schedule a free consultation. We will discuss all the details pertaining to an estate sale and help you determine if it’s right for you. You won’t have to worry about high-pressure sales tactics.
DFW Elite Estate Sales is a full-service liquidation company that is proficient in conducting estate sales. We have provided our estate sale services throughout North Texas and we customize all our sales to meet our client’s needs and expectations. Our business is built on referrals, therefore, customer satisfaction is a priority. We want each customer to experience a successful sale and be pleased with the results.

How does it work?

Call us and schedule a meeting to discuss every detail of the sale. We will assess your needs and determine if an estate sale is best for you. Once we all agree on the details, we’ll sign a contract. After the contract is signed, you provide us with a key to the property and we immediately begin preparing for the sale. This involves researching and assessing the current value of items, pricing, cleaning, promoting and advertising the sale (we don’t disclose the address until the day before the sale), acquiring any necessary permits, conducting the sale, and cleaning up afterward. We immediately send you a check when the sale is over, less our agreed upon commission.

How do I arrange an estate sale?

Contact DFW Elite Estate Sales via phone (469-855-9569) or email us using the contact form. We will be more than happy to walk you through the process.

How much advance notice does your company need to schedulre my estate sale?

You will need to contact us as soon as you know that an estate sale is necessary so we can schedule your sale as soon as possible. We usually prefer a month’s notice, however, we have been known to conduct an estate sale with as little as two weeks’ notice.

How long does the preparation of the estate sale last?

Preparation of an estate sale can take between 1-2 weeks to set up, stage and price, depending on the size of the estate and what contents are to be liquidated.

The sale could take anywhere between 2-4 days and will usually run Wednesday through Saturday.

What is your cancellation policy if I decide not to go through with the sale?

Once the contract has been signed and the advertising is already taking place, then there’s no backing out.

In what parts of the state does do you conduct sales?

DFW Elite Estate Sales is currently serving the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex and all of North Texas. If we can't help you we can probably recommend someone.

Does DFW Elite Estate Sales advertise?

Yes. We use several types of advertising. We list sales on our website, on websites that specialize in estate sale listings, in newspapers, on Facebook, on Craigslist, via professionally made yard signs, through mailing lists, and by word of mouth. While we explore every possible avenue to publicize your estate sale and bring in as many buyers as possible, some communities and some home owners associations (HOA) restrict yard signs.

How is DFW Elite Estate Sales compensated?

Our commission comes from the proceeds of the sale. You pay us nothing up front.

We have the expertise, staff and resources to help you have a successful sale. We are a family-owned and operated business and we understand that this isn’t just a sale to you – it’s your home and your lifetime of treasures. We treat your belongings and your home with the utmost respect and aim for 100% customer satisfaction.

Can I get in contact with someone about conducting a sale for me?

Absolutely! Call us today to discuss the details of an estate sale for you or your family members. Our phone number is 469-855-9569.

How long does a sale last?

Sales ordinarily last from 2 to 4 days.

Do you discount items during the sale?

Discounting is a common practice at estate sales. People shop at estate sales looking for discounts, but these terms are negotiable.

I’m selling my house. Should I wait until I have an offer before scheduling my estate sale?

No, don’t wait until the house sells. In fact, having an estate sale now could help your house sell faster as it will help to de-clutter your home and make it more attractive to potential buyers.

Should I clean out my house before the sale?

Never throw anything away before an estate sale. Keep the “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” credo in mind and let our professionals assess what should be thrown out.

What happens to items that don’t sell?

You have several options. You may give items to friends and family members and/or donate them to charity. See our “Services” under property liquidation to learn more about how we can help you.

What is the upfront cost?

Nothing. We cover all the expenses. After the sale we will send you an invoice itemizing all these expenses and a check, minus our commission.
